Colors

I took these during my trip to India in the summer of 2016, which was also when I got my camera for the first time. I was in Hyderabad for work but got to spend a weekend in New Delhi and see the Taj Mahal – a true monument to love.

India is one of the most patterned, colorful places I’ve ever visited. It makes me wonder how different cultures develop their aesthetics. Like how Japanese aesthetic is quite minimal and understated, or how the Italian aesthetic is luxurious and elegant, or how you can imagine “colonial” when thinking of Spanish design. It’s just so interesting to me how the standard of beauty in design or architecture or fashion can be so vastly different across countries.

There’s never a quiet moment in India – the streets are jam packed with pedestrians, bikers, cars, and carts at all hours of the day. Every moving vehicle is equipped with a horn, which is used quite generously and for all purposes. I feel like people honk more out of habit or to notify people of their existence on the road rather than as a warning.
